A Smiling Visitor
Everyday is quiet
Since they first put me in the ground.
At first I’d have some visitors
Occassionally they’d come around.
But as the years have worn on,
my friends have passed away, too,
my family has moved away
visitors are few.
The days come and go
in my quiet burial plot
We have some visitors in this corner,
in our quiet little spot.
Until the day I was visited again
by an unlikey little friend.
She said “hello, my name is Ev,
let me tell you about me.
I love football, karate and dancing
Hey - you want to see?”
Then she broke out in a dance
bringing laughter, smiles and joy,
A feeling I was forgetting
I had felt with my little boy.
He would dance around the living room
As we clapped, played and sang.
With this little girl,
The memory came back like a boomerang.
How I hope she visits again
So I can see her smiling face.
Her smile brightened my soul
at my eternal resting place.
